Christmas 2010
What a fun few weeks we had during Christmas break! I love Troy's school schedule and the fact that he has so much time off for holidays. The first week we took it pretty easy and got ready for Christmas, these kids were so excited. The 23rd is Asher's birthday so we did a small family party at Chuck E Cheese and then Christmas Eve we fried a turkey and had my parents over. We are building traditions each year but one that we have is opening one gift before going to bed. We let them pick out there present. Azlyn opened hers and was immediately in awe (a Hannah Montana like makeup carrier) oh my!! Asher on the other hand was not as thrilled with his house slippers. We then allowed another present to be opened so that he could have an exciting present too! Next year maybe we'll pick their present to open:)
This is one of the first shots I've gotten of Adelaide sitting up on her own and she was still a bit wobbly, the day we got back from LA, not even a week later I set her on the ground and she sat for 30 mins with us!

After looking at Christmas lights it was time to go to bed so Santa could make his rounds, carrots for the reindeer...
and cookies and milk for Santa...
The day before we had gone to mall to story time with Santa and he told them all chocolate chip cookies were his favorite so Azlyn was pretty adamant that we make him what he asked for but I assured her he would love and eat ANY cookie we had on hand. Luckily she yielded to my advice and off to bed they went! (Those silly mall Santa's)
The next morning the kids surprisingly woke up later than expected and then actually waited for us to somewhat get ready before invading the living room. Santa had made his mark, presents, stockings and even a letter written with a section to each child!!

then, I made my kids take pictures before they could open their presents from us:) Ya do what ya gotta do to get pictures with all of them!
Our obligatory Christmas morning pics with mommy and daddy... Troy was ready for me to put the camera down at this point but obliged.
He got Toy Story 3 and a whole set of figurines from the movie. He has never had action figures to play with and he got so many this year between his birthday and Christmas. He loves playing with all of them. Darth Vader attacks Rex and Iron man and Spider man come to the rescue! Spider man also saves Princess Azlyn a lot!
I hit the after Halloween clearance and the kids got some fun costumes for Christmas. This was one of Azlyn's favorites, I love how she came out and posed like this!
After we picked up all the wrapping paper, we starting throwing clothes in bags to get ourselves on the road to Louisiana. It had already been a full morning and we still had so much more to do! We got into LA around 9:30 but the kids had just taking an evening nap so they were wide awake and ready for another round of gift giving!
They had a blast playing all week with all the new toys!
Paw Paw had a litter of puppies and Asher enjoyed helping him take care of them.

I had to repeat many times that we were NOT taking a puppy home with us:)

We took a day trip with Chris to New Orleans and stopped in Baton Rouge on the way, Adelaide got to visit the Tigers Den. GEAUX TIGERS!! (unless you are playing the Aggies of course)

Well a beautiful picture of the riverboat and bridge along the Riverwalk was here but I accidentally deleted it and am not savvy enough to figure out how to upload a picture and move it down here:) So this ends our very overdue Christmas post. It was such a wonderful time spent with family. One last story I have to share though happened after Christmas and Azlyn pulled me aside one day and sat me down and asked me "mom, so why....did God create Santa?? Because....Christmas isn't about presents, but he made Santa. Why?? " This made no sense to her (nor I as this makes sense) and I pondered with her a bit while agreeing that Christmas was about Christ's birth and reminded her that He was God's gift. I walked away from this discussion wondering what we will do in the future about this Santa thing. It was such a sincere and reasonable thought, she's so much like her daddy! She has told me many times over the Christmas season that the best present is her family and if there were no presents under the tree it wouldn't matter because God has given her a great family:*) That's my sweet girl, I think Asher will understand it a lot more next year too.
